Ziggurat Project

EMESE KOVÁCS

Hungarian dance artist based in Budapest. She is founding and permanent member of multidisciplinary site-sensitive company Ziggurat Project.

 

After studying at Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy she received her dancer degree at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (CZ). She has cooperated among others with Philippe Genty Company (FR), Zero Ballet Company (HU), choreographers Tereza Vejsada Leopoldová & Lukáš Leopold (CZ), Batarita (HU), Márta Ladjánszki (HU) and Greenmy Tong (HK). She was a dancer of the Czech company Orbita between 2016 and 2018. From 2017 she is a member of L1 Association. She was supported by the Zoltán Imre Program for dance creators twice. She has attended numerous residencies as in CCDC Hongkong, Visegrad Fund residency at KAIR (Košice), at Nástupište 1-12 (Topoľčany), Rezidance (Komařice) etc. Her works as a creator: this thing here is complex (and good to be sold), Bunny Wants to Die, Fragile, Little Magic Box of Harmony, Too Much, intosomnia.

 

She is a permanent collaborator in Miroslav Tóth’s (SK/CZ) experimental music projects and operas since 2016. She established the performative music band hoygadayax and she is a founding member of Hamburg based General Humanity Lab with the composer Ingrid Hözl, creating sound-movement performances, as the scenes Mutant Mambo or Moving on Ice. Currently interested in electronic music composition.
