Ákos Kalmár

Ákos Kalmar began his career as a dancer in Josef Nadj’s Theatre Jel (2008-2012). He is permanent member of the site-sensitive interdisciplinary company Ziggurat Project where he is a maker and a performer. He has worked with members of the Philippe Genty Company, Batarita, Ferenc Tarr’s special shadow theatre and Living Picture Company. In 2013 he was a scholarship holder of Batarita Dance Company. His creations were awarded a special prize at the SoloDuo International Dance Festival in 2013, 2015 and 2016. He earned a degree in cultural marketing at University of Economics in Subotica and graduated as a contemporary dancer at Theatre and Film Institute in Budapest. In 2015 he received a degree in Buddhist theology and history of religion. His first own creation Esumi and Asao won the Main Prize of the II. RS9 OFF Independent Theatre Festival. Currently works as a freelance dancer and creator.
